Crystal Fractal Comics Signing

Dec 3, 2011

We’re happy to announce that we have a team from Crystal Fractal coming in for a signing on the Saturday, December 10, 2011 starting at 1 p.m.

Confirmed for the day are Derrek Lennox (founder/publisher), Dino Caruso (The Crossing #1, The Crossing #2 and Acts of Violence) and Andrew Ardizzi (Crystal Fractal Senior Editor). Check out their bios bellow along with some more info about Crystal Fractal and images of their comics.

Dino Caruso

Known mostly for his crime books such as “Acts of Violence,” “Fisk:Substitute Hero” and “Crossroads,” Dino has contributed immensely to Crystal Fractals’ “The Crossing” books. With five stories featured between both issues of “The Crossing,” he’s been integral to fleshing out the history of the Crystal Fractal Universe (CFU) and the events that lead into the events of CFU #0 with stories such as “Magic 101,” “Hedwig and the Witch,” and “The Emissary: Ringside.”

Andrew Ardizzi

Andrew works as Crystal Fractal Comics’ jack-of-all-trades. He has worked for the company since September 2011, and although his official title is Senior Editor, he helped letter, partially script and prepare the company’s four newest books for print in addition to his editing duties. Andrew also holds a degree in political science and graduated with honours from Humber College’s journalism program and looks forward to helping Crystal Fractal Comics grow with each new issue.

Crystal Fractal Comics

Crystal Fractal Comics is a Toronto-based, independent comic book company that was launched by company founder Derrek Lennox in 2008 with the imprint’s first issue, CFU #0. CFC is trying to diversify the comic book industry with its dynamic stories based entirely in a mystical world where sorcerers and powerful mages hold the balance of power. Collectively they must work together to protect earth and safeguard the crystal fractal from otherworldly threats from the other 150 levels of hell.

Redorik

Spiraling out of the events of CFU #0, “Redorik” follows a young high-school student named Justin Henderson. He’s not unlike most young-men his age: he has a best friend named Al, a potential girlfriend named Jessica, a bully named Mark and he’s on his high-school’s swim team. Lately though he’s been having weird dreams narrated by a strange voice, one which he’s started hearing while he’s awake. What’s going on with Justin? What does the future hold for him and what’s his connection to the crossing? Writer: Howard Wong. Artist: Pedro Maia

Entropy

During the crossing event featured in CFU #0, all of the mages in attendance were lost into the time-stream. That is, except for Domenico and Lucas Poisson. Unlike their friends, the two brothers are transported to the 15th level of hell where they must fight through hell’s hordes to escape. One day Domenico, the older of the two brothers, is successful with the help of Lucas, but the latter is left behind to continue his fight. Guilty for having left his brother in hell, Domenico resolves to rescue his brother. For 178 years, the now immortal Domenico has tried to rescue Lucas, and for 178 years he has failed. Now in present day, Domenico is gathering a new team of mages and sorcerers, known as “Entropy,” to launch another assault on hell’s gates hoping to rescue his long lost brother. Writer: Jeff Haas. Artist: Conan Momchilov.

The Legend of the Sleeping Giant

For the first time ever a First Nation legend is captured in comic book format. Written by Dean Burns, with art by Mansjur Daman, “The Legend of the Sleeping Giant” is an adaptation of the Fort William First Nation legend from the Thunder Bay area based upon the area’s own Ojibway legend of the sleeping giant.

The Crossing #2

Preceding the events of CFU #0, “The Crossing #2″ is a prequel anthology chronicling the events that lead to the Crossing story told in CFU #0. Featuring writers Dino Caruso, Derrek Lennox, Shawn Smith and Andrew Uys, the second issue of “The Crossing” pulls back the veil of mystery surrounding the events of CFU #0 a little more by subtly exposing why of the 45 mages invited to the mystical event, only 15 arrived. Notable stories feature Dr. Twilight, Elizabeth Windsor, Magus Rex, The Russian, Hedwig and The Cheng Brothers.
